Jean-Luc Butel brings over 35 years of international business development experience in the global healthcare industry to Esco. He has worked for major US Fortune 500 companies in the fields of medical technology, biologics, diagnostics, and high-tech start-ups.
He serves on the boards of Varian Medical System, Singapore Accelerate (A*STAR), Takeda Pharmaceutical Company, Novo Holdings and Novo Advisory Group, SGInnovate, and several healthcare start-ups in Asia and Europe. Jean-Luc is also an advisor to The Singapore DxD (The Diagnostic Development Hub) and The NMRC (National Medical Research Council). In 2014, he was awarded the Public Service Medal (Friend of Singapore) by the President of Singapore.
He has previously served as a Senior Advisor to the McKinsey’s Health Care practice, as an advisor for the NRF Singapore (National Research Foundation), and as a board member (Finance Committee Chair) of the Singapore EDB (Economic Development Board of Singapore). He was also a steering committee member on the Singapore government’s CFE (Committee for the Future Economy) and co-chair with Minister Iswaran on the sub-committee for Future Growth Industries and Markets.
Jean-Luc earned a BA in International Affairs from The George Washington University and an MBA in International Management from the American Graduate School of International Management.
